In the book, 99 things to do when you have the time, number 27 is this: "Examine a nearby thing. Who made it? How? And from what?"

I recently chanced upon artist, Rob Ryan's work and his book. I was intrigued the minute I read the title, 'A sky full of kindness'. It speaks to me on so many levels. The book tells the story of two birds about to become parents for the first time. But wait, here's the twist. It's done using the intricate art of paper cutting. And I thought, "How do artists come up with these ideas? Where do they get their inspiration?".

And then I chanced upon this little video made by Etsy in their Handmade Portraits series. It's a small peak into Rob Ryan's world, what inspires him and how he creates his beautiful art. And now I want to get this book even more. One of the things is says is,

My job is to look and think, to reflect the world as I see it. And a big part of my work is seeing and appreciating the beauty in the everyday. To make people see how beautiful the world is, how beautiful their lives are.

The video is a gem. And I wanted to share it with you. Here you go.

It is lovely, isn't it? I've seen it multiple times already and somehow I feel a sense of calm and happy peace after I've seen it.
