Hi! We’ve got a new gifting story today from Meghana Biwalkar who lives in Mumbai, India.  Meghana shares a fun story about how a book based on a popular TV show and a small jar of inspiring quotes turned out to be her all-time favourite gifts. Meghana is a freelance writer and also blogs at Hear-N-Out.

“My favourite pick-me-up line when I’m down is -- a few friends to keep you happy when I am not around. It’s one line that I fondly cherish! Wondering, why?

These words form the opening line of a ‘Best quotes from F.R.I.E.N.D.S’ pocket book, given by one of my best friends, who also happens to be the founder of the blog you are reading right now. Yes, I’m talking about Sarita. Long before she began blogging about gifting, she had this knack of surprising me with some of the best and most thoughtful gifts. She knew exactly what would bring a smile to my face. She could also get naughty with some of her gifts. When we were roomates, I was gifted a soft toy once -- a lion with its mane in all directions; the message read, “that’s how your hair looks in the morning”! I was happy to receive the unexpected gift, but as you can imagine, not so thrilled about the hair bit. Even so, that lion never fails to make me smile every time I look at it.

Friends forever - inspiring quotes on friendship

Coming back to the book, the reason the book and my ‘friend’s’ quote is special is because, I am a huge fan of the TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S to the point of being (almost) fanatic about it. I relate to all the characters; I was happy when they were happy and I was sad when they were sad. That’s not all. The craziness reached an all-time high; my ‘real-life’ friends were not allowed to call me when the show was on air. If they happened to call, I would simply cut them off! That’s how important these ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’ were for me. And, that’s what makes this little book and Sarita’s quote so special. I know we will be friends forever and that she is always with me, no matter that we live on different continents.

Inspiring quotes

Sarita also gifted me a special jar called ‘Minty’s  Jar of Self Confidence’, when I was at my lowest (Minty is my nickname and there’s a story behind that. But, more on that in my next post, maybe). The jar is full of feel good, inspiring quotes -- some funny, some inspiring and many motivating. Each time I reach into the jar, I find a quote that makes my day. One of favourite inspiring quotes is: “Promise me you will always remember: You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” It makes me want to get up and get going. It tells me that my friends believe in me so much and that I must respect this trust…this faith!

Inspiring quotes for friends forever

These two gifts always comfort and put me at ease. They make me believe that whatever the situation, things will get better. I may sound a little over the top, but that's how I feel about these gifts. They mean more to me than any of the expensive perfumes, shoes or jewellery I have ever received! So thank you, Sarita!"

Wow. I wasn’t expecting to have my own gifts (definitely not the lion!) mentioned here Meghana. I’m humbled and honoured. Thanks for sharing your gift story with us. It sure made me smile.  And, you know what? You are definitely not in the minority when it comes to being a fan of the TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
