“Have you ever pondered the miracle of popcorn? It starts out as a tiny, little, compact kernel with magic trapped inside that when agitated, bursts to create something marvellously desirable. It’s sort of like those tiny, little thoughts trapped inside an author’s head that―in an excited explosion of words―suddenly become a captivating fairy tale!” - Richelle E. Goodrich

Speaking of popcorn, I’ve got a small popcorn miracle to share with you today!  On our Present Perfect series, Camilla Kyndesen shares hear amusing gift story linked to her love for popcorn. Camilla is a writer and blogger from Copenhagen, Denmark. When she isn’t watching movies or finding inspiration for her stories through people gazing, Camilla blogs at A Popcorn Addict.

“When Sarita asked me what the best gift I’ve ever got was, the first thing that popped into my mind was popcorn. Not surprising for someone who is a self-confessed popcorn addict you might say. But it isn’t just the gift of crunchy, buttery kernels of deliciousness I’m referring to; it’s the gift of companionship and friendship and the lovely memories this popcorn gift gave me.

I moved to Copenhagen to study Library & Information Science. I was living in a tiny room and as it is with student life, money was in short supply. Knowing my love for popcorn, my new friends in the city dropped in one day with a huge bag of popcorn. Guess what? I didn’t own a microwave at that time which meant that every time I felt like noshing on some popcorn, I had to go over to my friends’ place and use their microwave! This was the start of some of the best and most fun times I’ve had with my friends. The popcorn gift turned out to the catalyst for some enduring friendships, fun times and fantastic popcorn memories I cherish even today. "

Thanks for sharing your popcorn gift story with us Camilla. How thoughtful of your friends to make you feel welcome and at home in a new place. This is one addiction with some lovely side effects!
